Repair or Replace?

Investing in a new roof can be a significant expense. The crucial first step is to arrange a FREE INSPECTION with Trident Roofing to assess the condition of your roof. Determining whether your roof requires repairs or replacement is essential. Replacing a roof prematurely could mean unnecessary expenses, whereas delaying repairs on an aging roof could lead to costly damages to both the roof and the underlying structure. Rely on the expertise of our highly trained professionals at Trident Roofing to conduct a thorough 8-POINT ROOF INSPECTION you can trust.

8-Point Roof Inspection

Extreme weather conditions such as severe storms, hail, intense UV rays, freezing temperatures, tornadoes, hurricanes, tropical storms, and derechos pose a significant threat to your roof. Regrettably, the true extent of the damage may not become apparent until significant issues arise, potentially resulting in expensive repairs or necessitating a complete roof replacement.

Your FREE, comprehensive 8-Point roof inspection includes inspecting each of these roof components:

1. Overall Roof Condition
A comprehensive roof inspection involves a thorough assessment of the overall roof condition, examining for signs of damage, wear, or potential issues. This process typically includes an evaluation of shingles, flashing, gutter systems, and the overall structural integrity of the roof. Professional inspectors look for any indications of leaks, deterioration, or vulnerabilities that might compromise the roof's effectiveness. Regular inspections are essential for identifying issues early on and ensuring the longevity and performance of the roof.
2. Valley
Inspecting the valley of a roof involves examining the area where two roof slopes meet, typically forming a V-shape. This critical juncture is prone to water accumulation and is therefore vulnerable to leaks and deterioration. During the inspection, professionals assess the condition of the valley flashing, ensuring it is properly sealed and free from damage or deterioration. They also check for any signs of water penetration, such as staining or rot, and assess the overall integrity of the valley area to prevent potential leaks and ensure the roof's long-term functionality.
3. Ridge Cap
Inspecting the roof ridge cap involves evaluating the peak of the roof where two slopes meet. This examination focuses on ensuring the ridge cap is securely attached and properly sealed to prevent water infiltration. Professionals look for signs of damage, such as cracks or missing sections, and check the integrity of the sealant or flashing surrounding the ridge cap. Additionally, they assess the overall condition of the ridge vent if present, ensuring proper ventilation for the attic space. Proper inspection of the roof ridge cap helps maintain the structural integrity of the roof and prevents potential leaks.
4. Shingles
Inspecting the roof shingles entails a thorough examination of the outermost layer of the roof. This inspection involves checking for signs of damage, such as cracks, curls, or missing pieces, which can indicate wear or potential leaks. Professionals also assess the shingle's alignment and condition to ensure they are properly sealed and providing adequate protection against the elements. Additionally, they look for any signs of algae or moss growth, which can compromise the integrity of the shingles over time. Regular inspection of roof shingles is essential for identifying issues early and prolonging the lifespan of the roof.
5. Chimney
A chimney inspection during a roof check involves assessing its condition and integration with the roofing. This includes checking for damage like cracks or loose bricks, inspecting the flashing for water protection, and examining the chimney cap for wear. This inspection is vital for the safety and integrity of the roof system.
6. Ventilaton
Inspecting roof ventilation involves assessing its effectiveness in regulating attic temperature and moisture. This includes checking vents like ridge vents, soffit vents, gable vents, or powered attic fans for presence and condition. Professionals ensure proper sizing, installation, and screen coverage to prevent obstructions and pest entry. A thorough inspection promotes energy efficiency, prevents moisture issues, and prolongs roofing lifespan.
7. Gutter Apron/Drip Edge
Inspecting the Gutter Apron and Drip Edge involves evaluating these components for proper installation and functionality. Professionals check for secure attachment, effective water redirection, and signs of damage to ensure the integrity of the roofing system.
8. Flashing
Inspecting flashing during a roof inspection involves assessing its condition and proper installation. Professionals check for tight seals, secure attachment, and any signs of damage to ensure effective water diversion and prevent leaks in vulnerable areas such as valleys, chimneys, and skylights.

Insurance Claims FAQs

Storm damage will vary based on severity of the wind or hailstorm as well as the condition of the property prior to the storm. It can be as obvious as missing shingles or it may be something more subtle such as hail marks that are not visible from the ground.

Evidence of wind damage is the easiest to spot. You may notice that your shingles are “lifting”, or are missing completely.  When one of our Roofing Consultants comes to inspect your roof, they will inspect the property for any damages.

Most insurance policies require the homeowner to take action after an event to prevent further damages from being incurred. If you have active water coming into your house through a roof leak, you should call Trident Roofing to do an emergency repair to prevent further damage. The costs of emergency repairs done to prevent further damage will be covered under the typical insurance policy.

While the homeowner is responsible for initiating the claim, at Trident Roofing, we’re here to support you every step of the way. We’ll guide you through the entire process, from inspecting your roof to providing all necessary photos and documentation to address any queries from your insurance provider. If you’re unsure about the extent of damages, it’s wise to reach out to Trident Roofing first. We’ll assess the damages to ensure they exceed the deductible before proceeding with the claim. Your peace of mind is our priority.

Absolutely! Simply provide us with the date and time of your insurance adjuster’s appointment, and Trident Roofing will ensure our presence at your home to meet with them. We’ll accompany the adjuster during their inspection, walking the roof together to highlight any storm damage or documented issues. Your satisfaction and peace of mind are our top priorities.

At Trident Roofing, we understand the importance of knowing your insurance policy options and how your insurance company will compensate you. There are two primary types: Actual Cash Value (ACV) and Replacement Cost Value (RCV).

Actual Cash Value (ACV) policies pay you based on your property’s current value. This value is determined by subtracting depreciation, factoring in elements like age and condition, from the cost of buying your property new today.

Replacement Cost Value (RCV) policies cover the full cost of replacing your property with new items, without deducting for depreciation.

Trident Roofing consultants are here to address any inquiries you may have regarding the length of specific manufacturer and installation warranties. While standard manufacturer warranties often begin at 25 years, numerous products now offer lifetime coverage, extending up to 50 years. Rest assured, our team will provide comprehensive information to ensure you understand the warranty options available for your roofing needs.

No, we will not cover your deductible. Roofing contractors who say they will cover the deductible are committing insurance fraud. We pride ourselves in being honest and fair with all our customers and therefore we do not compromise on our ethics.

No need to worry!

Trident Roofing will take care of everything on your behalf. We’ll collaborate with the insurance company to thoroughly document any additional damage and seek approval to address it within the scope of the initial claim. Your satisfaction and peace of mind are our priorities throughout the process.

Roof Repair & Replacement FAQs

The best way to know if you need a new roof or not is to have a qualified professional come do a comprehensive inspection. During a comprehensive inspection, the professional will assess the overall condition of the roofing system, and the individual components (flashings, boots, sealants, ventilation, etc..) and make a recommendation based upon the findings. Trident Roofing completes a 8 point inspection)* for no charge!

It’s a great idea to call a professional even if you suspect problems as ignoring them can lead to a much more costly repair in the future.

A professional can make a recommendation on this after assessing the overall condition of the system. Oftentimes regular maintenance will extend the life of your roofing system.

The answer here depends on the size of your home and the condition of your roof as well as the grade of materials you select.

That depends on the condition of the gutters and whether roofers can work around them. Usually, if gutters are in good condition we work around them. On steep roof systems it may not be economically feasible to work around them.

Times vary widely, but many roofing jobs typically are completed within a day or two. Trident Roofing will always tell you up front about the time estimate for any job we do.

We usually advise clients to clear cars and personal items like inflatable pools away from the area where work will be done. Roof repair can be noisy, so most of our customers try to be away for several hours during the heaviest repair work. Mowing the lawn within a couple of days prior to arrival is also helpful to the cleanup!

Hail and wind are the two biggest enemies of any roof. The other is time (aging). The big problem with hail, wind and other storm damage is that it can be almost invisible. The wear and tear on shingles and other roofing materials might not show up for months. That’s why it’s so important to have a roof inspected after a big storm. Inspections cost nothing and offer peace of mind for homeowners.

Call a professional to conduct an inspection. It is safer than climbing the ladder yourself.  Spotting damages can be impossible for a untrained eye as bruising doesn’t always appear on the surface.

When considering roofing contractors, we highly recommend conducting thorough research. Roofing contractors often receive a high number of complaints, according to the Better Business Bureau.

Unfortunately, post-storm situations can attract scammers and unethical contractors. Many individuals find themselves dealing with contractors who leave town without completing the job or providing warranty support. Here are some essential tips:

  • Familiarity: Have you heard of the company before? Prior recognition is a positive indicator.
  • Website Verification: Check their website and confirm their address. Some companies falsely claim to be “local” post-storm, so it’s essential to verify their location.
  • Reviews: Research their reviews. Look for a substantial number of reviews, including recent ones, and ensure there’s a mix of positive and negative feedback to validate their authenticity.
  • Professionalism: Observe their appearance and the appearance of their vehicles. Professional attire and company-branded vehicles are positive signs.
  • Licensing: Verify if they are licensed. This information is typically available on your state’s website.

These steps will help you make an informed decision when selecting a roofing contractor. At Trident Roofing, we prioritize transparency and professionalism to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind.

We say, “Don’t do it.” Unless you are a skilled roofer, it’s best to have a pro handle the job. Getting up on a ladder and checking out a roof is dangerous business. Our teams are insured, experienced, and know exactly what to look for.

Wind, rain, hail, sun, and many other factors cause a roof to deteriorate over time. Some of the aging is obvious, and some is not. The UV rays from the sun cause asphalt roofing to “cook”  out the resins and oils that make the asphalt soft, pliable, and flexible. The granules on the shingles purpose aren’t just for appearance, but more importantly to extend the life of the asphalt by protecting it from these UV rays! Seasonal temperature cycles also do their own kind of damage by causing materials to expand and contract year after year. This leads to brittleness and eventual breakage.

That’s something best left to an expert. Leaks come from all sorts of places, not always a roof. An experienced roofer can usually trace it to the source.

A new roof can add to the value of your home, increase its curb appeal (meaning it will sell faster if you put it up for sale), increased property value, and increased energy efficiency.

Discoloration on interior walls and ceilings, dripping water anywhere in the home, missing or damaged shingles, musty/bad odor coming from walls or ceilings, or any event you suspect may have caused damage.

Our Vision.
Your Satisfaction.

We know quality, integrity, and transparency build a better roofing experience.
